## Chimney Breast Damp Repair – Kidlington

This property in Kidlington was suffering from damp contamination to the chimney breast caused by long-term water ingress through the chimney stack. The existing flaunching had failed, allowing rainwater to penetrate the chimney, resulting in moisture damage and chimney salt contamination internally.

During the works, all contaminated plaster was hacked off back to the masonry to remove the salt-affected materials. The chimney stack was then repaired externally, including installing new flaunching and fitting ventilated chimney caps to help prevent further water ingress while maintaining airflow to the flue.

Once the chimney had been properly repaired and allowed to stabilise, the internal chimney breast was re-plastered to restore the area back to a clean, sound finish.

The completed works resolved the source of water penetration and prevented further chimney salt contamination internally.
