Wet & Dry Rot
Wet and dry rot treatment.
Timber decay caused by moisture can lead to serious structural problems if left untreated. At AP Damp Solutions Ltd, we identify the root cause of the issue and provide long-lasting solutions — not just temporary fixes.
Wet Rot
Wet rot occurs when timber is exposed to high moisture levels over time. This is usually caused by:
Leaking pipes
Poor ventilation
Penetrating damp
High moisture within walls or floors
Signs of wet rot include:
Soft, spongy timber
Darkened or damp wood
Musty smell
Localised damage (does not spread through masonry)
Our approach:
We locate and fix the source of moisture first. Damaged timber is removed or treated, and we ensure the area is properly dried and protected to prevent recurrence.
Dry Rot
Dry rot is more serious and can spread through timber and across masonry if not treated properly. It thrives in damp, poorly ventilated environments.
Common signs include:
Cracking and shrinking timber
Fungal growth (white/grey strands or orange spores)
Musty odour
Timber losing strength and becoming brittle
Our approach:
We carry out a full inspection to assess the extent of the spread, eliminate the moisture source, remove affected timber, and treat surrounding areas to stop further growth.
Why It’s Important to Act Early
Both wet and dry rot are caused by excess moisture. The longer the problem is left, the more damage it can cause — including structural timber failure.
